Meet our SoCo, Carys

I’m Carys, and don’t currently go by anything else, but if you’re feeling creative, I would love some fun suggestions! Woah! That makes for a not-at-all unnatural or poorly written transition into how I’d love to grab a coffee with you and chat about said suggestions! And/or just get to know one another! If we grab a coffee, I’d probably tell you that I am SO pumped to worship the Lord by joyfully serving the community as social coordinator! This will be my 4th year at UBC, majoring in International Relations with a (hopeful) minor in Food Resource Economics.

Some other things I may mention...
  • I LOVE the outdoors and have probably centred too much of my personality around it. Ask me about hikes. I will probably definitely drag you into an annoyingly long conversation. It’s quite embarrassing how I’ve likely spent more time researching backpacking than I have on my papers.
  • I come from a family of five that loves to laugh, travel, and have fun!
  • I love to take pictures! So if I'm on my phone, don't accuse me of not being in the moment - I'm just CAPTURING the moment. I also don't have the best memory, so this just helps a bit.
  • I love baking and any other excuse to get a (gluten-free) sweet treat!
  • I worked in the South-West of France for a bit, maintaining a heritage home that used to be a monastery! Ask me about it! I have some pretty traumatic interesting stories about the place.

Anyways! I am so excited to facilitate spaces where we can grow closer to Christ and simultaneously with one another! My prayer is that these spaces will be a balance of vulnerable conversation and light-hearted fun. This is evident throughout Scripture, but probably the most well-known in Ecclesiastes, which states there is a time for sorrow and for weeping, as well as a time for joy and laughter (Eccles. 3:4-5). I have seen the Lord work beautifully through both, and I’m confident He’ll move in power again this year!

That being said, I would love to meet and chat with you, so don’t be shy and holler if you see me on campus, I will probably holler (a bit louder) back!
