Meet our WorshipCo, Sanaa

HELLO BEAUTIFUL PEOPLE!!

My name is Sanaa (pronounced sah-nah), and I'm so blessed and honoured to serve as your Worship Coordinator this year! I'm very excited to continue building on the amazing worship ministry at UCM. This community has played such a significant role in shaping my faith, and my prayer is that I can pour into our worship leaders while helping our community grow closer to God through singing praises to our amazing Lord.

A few fun facts about me:

  • I play piano and sing, and I'm currently learning guitar!
  • Funny enough, I don't actually have a favourite worship song; it changes every week because I love so many different worship artists and styles.
  • I'm going into my third year of Kinesiology, and no, I didn't choose the major because of an ACL tear… after working as an Assistant Manager for UBC Intramurals last year, I've become really interested in sports management as a future career!
  • I LOVE food. I worked as a kitchen intern at a camp the summer before stepping into this role, where I picked up a few chef skills. I'm hoping to bring people together through worship dinners, where we can jam out and munch on good food.

​I've been involved in worship ministry since middle school, serving as a worship leader in my church. I'm excited to bring what I've learned from worship pastors, mentors, and workshops into this role at UCM.
After spending time in prayer and seeking the Lord, my heart for UCM this year is to become deeply rooted in Scripture. I want us to grow in our understanding of worship by meditating on God's Word and allowing it to shape the way we praise Him. I'm also excited to explore spontaneous worship nights, creating space for the Holy Spirit to move and for people to worship freely and wholeheartedly.

I also have the privilege of building our team of worship leaders this year. I hope to help our worship leaders grow not only as musicians but also as Christ-centred leaders who lead with humility, diligence, and love. I also want to encourage them to stay rooted in Scripture and cultivate hearts that point others toward Jesus.

I can't wait to see what the Lord has in store for worship at UCM this year!
